TISD Helps Welcome Home Returning Troops!

by Laura Main

September 29, 2009

Over 200 military personnel were greeted with cheers and patriotic hymns as they returned home for leave or end of duty on September 9, 2009.

Trinidad ISD Seniors and cheerleaders made an early morning trip to DFW to welcome home US troops. The students left Trinidad at 5 a.m. and joined military families and friends to welcome home those who have selflessly served our country abroad.

"It was definitely an emotional experience to see families reunited like that," said senior Kiki Cofer.

TISD cheerleaders Danielle Colman, Peyton Lindsey, and Kim Sims assisted organizers in the homecoming celebration by passing out bottles of water to the soldiers after their 22 hour flight.
